Face to face training day breakdown for this element of Unit 2: Planning, facilitating and evaluating children and young people's musical learning.

CME learners should read this page and ensure the preparation tasks are complete before attending the face to face training days.

What tasks must learners do prior to attending the course?

Task
(including what the learner will need to bring to the training day)
Which CME assessment criteria will the task generate evidence for?How will the task be used during the training day?
1. Consider a recent teaching experience. How 'musical' was it? Were the students all engaged in musical activity? How did they respond? How did you behave?2.3.2These reflective questions will form the basis of a reflective log which forms the backbone of your experiences and will be your own resource that you will be able to draw upon throughout your studies.
2. Select a resource that you use in your teaching. Think about why you use it, how effective it is and how it can be adapted to different situations.2.3.1aFor the Face-to-Face course you will need to be prepared to select a vocal snippet or melody line and create a multi layered song from this.
3. You will be asked to think about sounds that make up everyday life. Consider what makes the soundscape of background 'noise'. Think of scenarios with specific sounds such as a train station. You may like to record some examples to analyse later.2.3.1bThese ideas will be used in a practical activity.

1. Reflect on the day's learning. How has it influenced thinking about musical learning?2.3.4-Part of your reflective log.
2. Record an audio file of a lesson that has happened as a direct result of the learning on the Face-to-Face day.2.3.6-As part of the reflective log and evidence for other Unit 2 assessment criteria.
